You can add one or more media files at a time. The media files you want to add must have been uploaded to your Media Library. For information about how to upload a media file, click here.
The procedure for adding media files to a video Play List is twofold – first you select the type and location of the media files you want to add, then you select the specific media files and configure the settings for the files selected.
The procedure for adding media files stored in the Media Library is the same regardless of media type, however each media type is added on a page specific to that type as follows:
- Video files are added on the Add Videos from Media Library page
- Image files are added on the Add Images from Media Library page
- Flash files are added on the Add Flash from Media Library page
To select the specific media files and configure the settings for the files selected:
STEP 1: If not already completed, follow the procedure to Add items to a video Play List.
STEP 2: In the Available <Videos, Images, Flash> section:
- In the Folder field, click to select the folder in the Media Library that contains the files you want to add. By default the Available <Videos, Images, Flash> section shows all files contained in the My Files folder for the media type selected (e.g., video, image, or Flash). If a different folder is selected, or if new files were recently uploaded, click Refresh to update the list of available files.
- Locate the file(s) you want to add any of the following ways:
Search for it: If you know the name of a file you want to find, type it in the Find File box, then click Search. The software starts searching as soon as you enter the first character. For example, if you "b", then the software displays all media files beginning with the letter "b". The search results are displayed below the Find File box. Page through the list of files: If there are more than ten files available in any one folder, click on the page numbers below those displayed to view additional files. Resort the table (applies to List View only): The list of files can be resorted by clicking on any available table column header. The list is sorted in alphabetical order. It can be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking on the column header you want to sort by (e.g. to sort alphabetically by file name, click the Name column header) - Click the Select button associated with each file you want to add. The selected files are added to the Selected <Videos, Images, Flash> box. To preview a file before you select it, click the Preview button associated with it.
STEP 3: In the Size and Position section:
- (Optional) By default, all selected files will be scaled to fit the available Placeholder area in which they will be displayed. If you want to scale files by a specific value, uncheck Scale to Fit and in the Scale Factor field, type the value by which you want to scale the files in the Scale Factor field. The specified scale factor will be applied to all selected files.
- (Optional) By default, all selected video files will be centered within the Placeholder area in which they are displayed. If you want to specify a position for the video file(s) to be displayed, click the Position field to select the desired position (e.g., Top Left, Top, Top Right, etc.)
- (Optional) By default, the volume level for all selected video files is set to 100 (loudest). To change the volume level for sound, specify a value between 0-100 in the Volume field (0=no sound, 100=loudest). To play sound, the selected displays must have speakers attached to them.
STEP 4: In the Sequence and Schedule section:
- In the Play Sequence field, type the position the file should take in the Play List sequence. The number of items currently in the Play List sequence is displayed to the right of the Play Sequence field (i.e., if this is the third item to be added to a Play List it will display “3 of 2″).
- By default, all new image and Flash files are scheduled to display for a duration of 0 seconds. All new video files are scheduled to play until done (P.U.D).
To change the default duration for image and Flash files, in the Duration field, type the number of seconds for which the file should display onscreen. If you want the flash file to Play Until Done, then in the flash file itself (i.e. edited in Adobe Flash CS3), you need to add the flash command fscommand("done") and as well, you need to set it to play for a duration slighter longer than the duration of the flash file. To specify a duration for video files, uncheck Play Until Done, and type the number of seconds for which the file should display onscreen in the Duration field. - By default, all new Play List Items are scheduled to display 24/7 (24 hours/day, 7 days/week, beginning the date the Play List is approved, or if the Play List is approved, the date the content item is created). To create a specific display schedule for this Play List Item, click Use Schedule to display the scheduling options, then specify a schedule for the item.
STEP 5: In the Logging section:
- (Optional) Click the Enable Logging checkbox to enable logging for the Media File. This enables Proof of Play, where you can run a Proof of Play report on the run time data for the Media File as a Play List item.
- Click Save or Save & Close.
NOTE:
- In order to preview a video file, the computer you are using to preview the file must have the proper brower plug-in required to show the selected video file. (e.g., QuickTime, Windows Media Player)
