Appliance system requirements

The following system requirements are for an Appliance used in conjunction with a video display. Click here to view the Browser requirements for the web-based Display Network software.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The following operating systems are supported:
    • Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
    • Microsoft Windows XP Embedded
    • Microsoft Windows XP Embedded 2009
    • Microsoft Windows 2000
    • Mircosoft Windows Server 2003
    • NOTE: You can use MS Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate, if you run it in XP mode. For instructions on how to run MS Windows 7 in XP mode, see http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
  • The following operating systems are NOT supported:
    • Windows 7 Home
    • Vista (any version including Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate)
    • Mac operating systems
    • Linux operating systems
  • Port 80 open (in and out) to the Internet
  • Pentium 4, Atom or Core 2 Duo Processor
  • 80 GB Hard Drive
  • 128 MB Video Card
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 10/100 Network Card
  • Direct X 9.0c or higher
  • Windows Media Player 11 or higher
  • DivX Player 6.6 or higher
  • Latest version of Java JRE
  • Latest version of Adobe Flash Player

Additional Requirements for Specific Functionality

  • For best presentation quality, a display with a native resolution that matches the resolution of the content you want to show
  • For best quality video playback, AGP or PCIe video cards with minimum 512 MB’s of DDR2 RAM
  • For audio, an on-board PCI or PCIe sound card
  • For TV, one of the following TV Tuners:
    • ATI PC Theatre 550 Pro TV Tuner
    • ATI All in Wonder Radeon series TV Tuner/Video card
    • Yuan TV Tuner available as an option with the AOpen Digital Engine
    • Hauppauge 1800
    • HauppaugeWin TV Go card
    • ATI TV Wonder 600 USB
    • Hauppauge 950Q USB
    • NOTE: For Appliances with less powerful CPUs, we do not recommend the use of USB TV Tuners as they use a lot of CPU
