A private Media Library is available to you for the purpose of managing and organizing the media files you want to display. Use the Media Library to organize and manage your image, Flash, and video files and to make them available to other Content Administrators and Content Editors in your company. All the image, Flash and video files that you want to add to a Play List must first be uploaded to your Media Library.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

You, the User, shall be solely responsible for any content, data or material uploaded (”Content”) using this system. As service provider, we give no warranty as to your authority to use or display content. Use of the system to access and use indecent, unlawful or unauthorized proprietary content is strictly prohibited.

About the Media Library page:

The Media Library page lets you view information about all existing media files in your Media Library, find a specific media file, and open the Manage Media File page to access the details for a specific media file. There are two ways for you to view media files – as Thumbnails and as a list. The Thumbnails view is the default view.

Thumbnails view (default): In Thumbnails view up to 10 media file thumbnails are displayed on a page along with the media file name and resolution. The media files are organized in alphabetical order (A-Z) and include all media file types (e.g., .avi, .bmp, .jpg, etc.). This view allows you to quickly identify media files at a glance. Mouseover a thumbnail to view a summary of significant file information – including media file type, duration (applicable to Flash and video file types), resolution, whether its a shared file, the file size, and the date and time it was uploaded – allowing you to view a file without having to open it to figure out what it is.

List view: In List view media files are displayed as a list in a table format and, by default, are sorted alphabetically in ascending order by file name. This view is useful if you have a lot of media files and you want to scan the list for a particular file name. You can resort the list by clicking on any table column header (e.g.,, Description, Resolution, etc.). In List view, you are provided with the following information about media files – the file name, type, whether its a shared file or not, its resolution, the date and time it was uploaded and the file size. This view does not provide the duration (applicable to Flash and video file types.)

About folders for the Media Library:

Folders are a way to organize and manage your media files. In the Media Library you can add a new folder, rename a folder, delete a folder, and move files from one folder to another.

The pre-defined folder structure of the Media Library is as follows:

Public Files folder: This is a public folder and contains media files provided and maintained by the Network Operator. The files contained in this folder are available to all Network users as read-only files.

Network Files folder: This folder only displays for clients of a Reseller or Network Operator and the media files it contains will only be available to those clients. The media files included in this folder are controlled and managed by the Reseller or Network Operator.

My Files folder: This is a private folder for your organization. The files contained in this folder are only accessible to users within your organization. You can add additional subfolders within it to better organize and manage your proprietary media files.

For more information about managing folders for the Media Library, please see Create and manage Media Library folders.

The acceptable content and associated file types that can be uploaded to the Media Library for use in Play Lists include:

Images:

.jpg

.jpeg

.bmp

.gif

.png

We recommend jpeg images because they have the best compression, are typically the easiest and quickest to open, and look great.

Adobe Flash:

.swf

Media files (Audio & Video)

.mp3

.wmv

.avi

.mpg

.mpeg

When it comes to video, our personal favorite is AVI files encoded with Divx. TO learn more about encoding with divx, go to their website: www.divx.com.

Web Page Formats Supported

Web pages that use Silverlight however to display them the Silverlight plugin must be installed on each Appliance that will run the Presentation. Please note there will be no interaction ability with the web page, only the ability to view content in Silverlight.

Media Conversion Tools

Online media conversion tools are great for converting media files from one type to another, for example to convert a .png to a .jpeg. We have reviewed and recommend the following online conversion tools:

YouConvertIt Beta (http://www.youconvertit.com/) with this tool you can convert ANYTHING. Video, document, audio, image, you name it, you can convert it. The only downside is you can’t change resolutions.

ZamZar Beta (http://www.zamzar.com/) great tool for more intense users that require options for priority conversions, larger storage size, etc.

Media-Convert (http://www.mediaconverter.org/) a bit more complicated than the others but it does allow you to change the resolution your files are rendered at.

ISpring Pro (http://www.ispringsolutions.com) the recommended tool for converting PowerPoint (.ppt) to Flash (.swf).
