Create a custom Presentation from scratch

There are a number of Presentation templates provided at a variety of display resolutions that you can customize to meet your branding and content requirements. However, if you prefer, you can design and create a Presentation from scratch. The procedure below describes how to create a custom Presentation from scratch. If you want to create a Presentation using one of our Presentation templates, click here.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • If you want to create a Presentation for the purpose of making it accessible as a Presentation Template to the users of ALL companies within the Display Network, there is a fee of $125 for this service (payable in advance). If you are creating a Presentation to be used by your company only, there is no charge.
  • If you are a Reseller or Network Operator and are submitting a Presentation to be created for a client company, PLEASE include the name of the client company in your email request. A Presentation cannot be moved from one company to another, therefore if a Presentation is created for the wrong company, it would have to be recreated for the correct company thus delaying the delivery of the Presentation file.

STEP 1: Create an image or .swf file

Create a background image or Flash file, that matches the resolution of your display and that clearly identifies the placement and resolution of each Placeholder area you want to include. When you are creating this file please note the following guidelines:

  • Create it at the exact same resolution as the display on which it will be shown. For example, if the full screen resolution of your display is 1024 x 768, create this file at that resolution. NOTE: If you have two or more displays and they are different resolutions, for example one is 1024 x 768 and the other is 1280 x 960 then you will need to create two separate files – one at 1024 x 768 and the other at 1280 x 960.
  • If you want to include the time and/or date in your final Presentation, you will need to create a Flash file for the “background” that contains the time and date. NOTE: If you want the clock to update, it has to be a Flash animation! Click here to view an example of a Flash clock in .fla file format.
  • To identify the Placeholder locations and resolutions, draw one or more GREEN “Placeholder” boxes exactly where you would like each Placeholder(s) to be placed within the final Presentation. IMPORTANT: YOU MUST USE THIS COLOR OF GREEN: R0G255B0 or #00FF00, so that the Placeholder areas are clearly discernible.
  • Assign a name to each of the “Placeholder” areas you create by labeling each box (e.g., Main, Weather, Scroller). If you do not name the Placeholder areas they will be assigned generic names when the file is converted to a Presentation file.
  • If you want to include a scroller in the Presentation, please identify the Placeholder area as a Scroller and specify what type of Scroller – Financial (must be 100 pixels high, any width) or News (must be 50 pixels high, any width). The Financial scroller will be the Dow 30 and the News Scroller will be headline news.

NOTES:

  • If you want to one of your EXISTING Placeholders – that is a Placeholder that is currently used in a different Presentation - in this Presentation, you need to specify BOTH the name of the other Presentation AND the name of the Placeholder you want to reuse. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS because any changes you make to the Play Lists assigned to that Placeholder will be made to the Placeholder in the second Presentation as well.
  • We can make minor changes to a Presentation after it has been created, however, multiple or significant changes may result in a creative charge for the customization. You will be notified of any necessary creative charges BEFORE any revisions are made.
  • If you want your Presentation created as a template that is available to the users of all companies within the Display Network you must specify this in your conversion request email.

STEP 2: Upload the completed image or .swf file to the Media Library

Before uploading the file, we recommend creating a new folder in the Media Library called “Presentation Conversions” and uploading the file to that folder. Click here for the procedure to create a new folder.

NOTE: If you are creating a custom Presentation for a client company, then the final image/.swf file should be uploaded to a folder in the Media Library of the company the Presentation is being created for, not in your company’s Media Library.

STEP 3: Send an email to creative@risevision.com to have it converted

In the Subject line of the email, type “CONVERSION REQUEST”

In the body of the email, include:

  • Your company’s account name (This is the company that the presentation will be for, and can be found at the top of the Company tab in the “Company Name” field)
  • The EXACT path to the file in your media library
  • The name and extension of the file to be converted

STEP 4: The Rise Vision Creative team converts your file

  • The conversion process is an automated process and can take up to 48 hours to complete (2 business days)
  • When the file you created is converted, it will be converted into a Presentation file, or template, and given the same name as the file you uploaded
  • You will receive an email notifying you when the conversion is complete and the converted file, the Presentation template, is available in your Display Network account
  • The newly created “Presentation file” will be accessible to you as a Presentation template on the “Presentations” page, it will not be accessible from the Media Library as a file
  • Create Play Lists and add them to the Placeholder areas in your custom Presentation template

IMPORTANT: Please note the file conversion is an automated process. If you made an error in creating or uploading the file, for example, the “Placeholder” dimensions are incorrect, the Presentation file you uploaded cannot be found in your Media Library, or you forgot one of the steps described above, then your conversion request will be rejected and the request will be returned to you. If this occurs, you will need to fix whatever errors caused the file to be rejected. However, please note, we are not always able to identify the errors that caused a file to be rejected. But, that said, most files are successfully converted on the first attempt. If your file does get rejected, the error may be a simple one. Reviewing each step again should easily reveal what was missed.
