Through the Display Network software you can access the TV Tuner installed on an Appliance to manage and configure the TV settings remotely instead of directly on the local Appliance. You can modify the TV settings including changing the channel, showing closed captioning, or changing the volume of the TV.
In the software you need to select the TV Tuner that is installed on the Appliance to configure TV for remote access from the software.
You add TV to a Play List and modify the default settings in the Add TV Page. You can return to and further modify the TV settings on the Manage TV Page. If the Manage TV Page for the TV Play List item you want to change is not already displayed, see Open the Manage Play List Item page for a video Play List Item to open it.
To change the TV channel:
- In the Channel field, type the channel you want to show.
- Click Save.
To select an over-the-air (OTA) channel instead of cable:
On the Appliance being used to display the TV:
- Stop the Rise Player application by pressing Ctrl + Shift + F10.
- Go to C:\Program Files\Rise Softools\Rise Vision Enterprise\ and run the TVConfig.exe application.
- In the TVConfig window, go into the TV Profile that you selected in the Display Network software.
- Click on the TV Tuner Properties and click the radio button for Antennae.
- Click OK, then OK again.
- Close the TVConfig window.
- Restart the Appliance.
To specify a description for the TV Play List Item:
A description is useful for describing the TV channel selected.
- In the Description field, type a word or phrase to describe the Play List Item (e.g., the name of the selected channel such as “ESPN”).
- Click Save.
To specify the size and position of the TV Play List Item:
- In the Aspect Ratio drop-down menu, select the Aspect Ratio that pertains to your display. Options include 4×3 or 16×9.
- In the Position field, select from a list of options of how you want the TV content to be positioned in the Placeholder. Options include: Centered, Top Right, Bottom etc.
- To specify the resolution size in the Width and Height fields, uncheck the Scale To Fit checkbox. When checked, the TV content scales to the size of the Placeholder.
- Click Save.
To show or disable closed captioning:
- In the Show Captions field, check the box to show captions, uncheck if you do not want to show captions.
- Click Save.
To change the TV volume:
- In the Volume field, check the option you want:
- System Default: uses the volume setting of the Appliance associated with the display on which it is being shown (default setting)
- Mute: to mute sound
- Custom: to specify a volume percentage level – 0 = mute, 100 = loudest
Click Save.
To sequence and schedule the TV Play List Item:
The Schedule controls when a TV channel plays in the Presentation’s Play List. You can select one or more of the following options:
- Play Sequence (required): Provide the order of the TV channel play sequence in the Play List.
- Duration: Specify the hours, minutes, and seconds that the TV channel plays.
- Schedule: Click More to expand the options for scheduling the TV channel in the Play List.
- To specify the Date period:
- To select a start time, click the Start Time field and select from the options provided.
- To select a specific end time, uncheck the No end date checkbox, then click the End Time field to select an end date from a calendar.
- To select no end date, check the No end date checkbox.
- To specify the Time period:
- To play the TV content all day, check the 24/7 radio button.
- To play the TV channel during a specific time period, click the Use Schedule radio button. Configure one or more of the following options:
In the Recurrence section, click how you want the TV to play on a recurring basis: Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly.
In the Time section, uncheck the ALL DAY checkbo. Click the Start field to select a start time and click the End field to select an end time. The default start time is 8:00 AM, the default end time is 5:30 PM.
In the Time Zone section, uncheck the Appliance Display Time checkbox to display the time zone options available. Select the time zone for the physical location of the display. The default Time Zone is Eastern Time (US & Canada).
- Logging: Click the Logging checkbox to enable logging. This enables Proof of Play, a feature that allows you to run a report on the run time data for the TV Play List Item.
Click Save or Save & Close.
NOTES:
- For the selected TV channel content to show on your display, the TV Tuner card installed on the Appliance must be functioning properly and be receiving a cable signal. For more information, see About the TV Tuner.
- In the software you also need to select the TV Tuner that is installed on the Appliance to configure TV settings for remote access from the software.
