Quick Start Guide for ticker displays

Welcome!

If you’re new to the Display Network and wondering where to start, you’ve come to the right place. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

This guide describes how to get started with creating and displaying content for a ticker display. It assumes a company account has already been set up for you and you have at least one user set up with the User Administrator role. If this is not the case, you will need to contact the Reseller of your choice to have them set up an account for you.

Suggested Workflow

To create custom content you typically perform the following steps, however, depending on your content needs and your working style, you may perform the steps in a different order from what is shown here. Please note the specific steps a User is able to perform are dependent upon the user roles assigned to them.

NEW Step 1Learn about the Display Network interface and terminology
1. Read about what you can do with the Display Network application.
2. Become familiar with the terminology used in the Display Network.
3. Take a tour of the application.
NEW Step 2Add Users
NOTE: Only a User Administrator can perform this function.
1. Read about the User Roles available and the functions that can be performed by each.
2. Add users and assign Roles for those who will be interacting with the Display Network.
NEW Step 3Add an Appliance (computer) and configure the Appliance settings to optimize its performance.
NOTE: Only a Display Administrator can add and configure the settings for an Appliance.
1. Ensure the Appliance you want to add meets the minimum system requirements.
2. Add an Appliance (computer) to the Display Network.
3. If necessry, configure or change the Appliance settings.
NEW Step 4Create the custom content you want to display
NOTE: Only a Content Administrator or a Content Editor can perform this function.
1. Upload the existing image files (i.e., bitmap images) you want to use to the Media Library.
2. Create a new ticker Play List.
3. Specify who can edit the Play List.
4. Specify who can approve the Play List.
5. Add Play List Items (e.g., text messages, bitmap images, financial quotes, news headlines, sports scores) to your Play List.
6. Customize the display schedule for each Play List Item you added - to display at a specific time or all the time.
7. Rearrange the Play List Items in the order you want them to display.
8. Select the display(s) on which the Play List should be shown.
9. Flag the Play List for approval.
NEW Step 5Create a Placeholder through which to display the Play List you created
1. Create a new ticker Placeholder.
2. Add the Play List to the Placeholder assigned to the ticker Appliance connected to the display.
NEW Step 6Approve the content for display
NOTE: Only a Content Administrator or Content Approver can perform this function.
1. Review and approve (or reject) the Play List.
NEW Step 7Display your Play List on the display(s)
1. Assign the Placeholder to the ticker Appliance connected to the ticker display(s).
