Select a layout for financial, news or sports data

When you add a financial, news or sports item to a Play List, you must also select a layout format to specify how the information associated with the selected item will be displayed. The software includes a number of predefined layout format options for each of the three item types. You select the layout format you want to use on the Select Content Element Layout page which is only accessible from the Layout field’s Select link on the following pages:

  • Manage Play List Ticker Financial page
  • Manage Play List Ticker News page
  • Manage Play List Ticker Sports page

About the Select Content Element Layout page:

The Select Content Element Layout page lets you view all layout formats available for the selected item type and category. The layout formats displayed will be specific to the item type and category that was added.  For example, if the item type selected is Financial and the category selected is Currency, the layout formats available will be specific to the data fields and layout formats associated with currencies.

On this page you can view all layout formats available, find a specific layout, and select the layout format you want to use. Rise Display Network provides two ways for you to view layout formats – as Thumbnails and as a list. The Thumbnails view is the default view.

  • Thumbnails view: In Thumbnails view Rise Display Network displays up to 5 layout format thumbnails on a page along with the layout name. The layouts are organized in alphabetical order (A-Z). This view allows you to quickly identify layout formats at a glance. Mouseover a thumbnail to view a summary of significant file information – including the layout description, display type (e.g., ticker), item type (e.g., financial, news, sports), configuration and category (e.g., stock, currency, bond, etc.) This view makes it easy to understand exactly how the information will appear on your display.
  • List view: In List view layout formats are displayed as a list in a table format and, by default, are sorted alphabetically in ascending order by file  name. This view is useful if you have a lot of layout formats and you want to quickly scan the list for a particular layout by name, however, it does not provide a visual preview of the layout. You can resort the list by clicking on any table column header (e.g., Layout, Type, Item Type, etc.) In List view, you are provided with the following information about layouts – the layout name, description, type, item type, configuration, and category.

To find a specific layout:

You can find a layout on the Select Content Element Layout page any of the following ways:

  • Search for it: If you know the name of the layout you want to find, type it in the Find Layout box, then click Search. The software starts searching as soon as you enter the first character. For example, if you “b”, then all Play Lists beginning with the letter “b” are displayed. The search results are displayed below the Find Layout box.
  • Resort the table: (applies to List view only) The list of layouts can be resorted by any available table column header. To resort, click on the column header you want to sort by. The list is sorted in alphabetical order. It can be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking on the column header you want to sort by (e.g. to sort alphabetically by layout name, click the Layout column header, by category, click the Category column header).
  • Page through the list of Play Lists: If there are more than five layouts available, click on the page numbers below the thumbnails/table to view additional layouts.

To select a layout:

  • Click the Select link associated with the layout you want to use.  Once selected, you will automatically be returned to the appropriate Manage Play List Ticker Financial (News or Sports) page.
