File Formats and Types Supported

The acceptable content and associated file types that can be uploaded to the Media Library for use in Play Lists include:

Images:

  • .jpg
  • .jpeg
  • .bmp
  • .gif
  • .png

We recommend jpeg images because they have the best compression, are typically the easiest and quickest to open, and look great.

Adobe Flash:

  • .swf

Media files (Audio & Video)

  • .mp3
  • .wmv
  • .avi
  • .mpg
  • .mpeg

When it comes to video, our personal favorite is AVI files encoded with Divx. TO learn more about encoding with divx, go to their website: www.divx.com.

Web Page Formats Supported

Web pages that use Silverlight however to display them the Silverlight plugin must be installed on each Appliance that will run the Presentation. Please note there will be no interaction ability with the web page, only the ability to view content in Silverlight.

Media Conversion Tools

Online media conversion tools are great for converting media files from one type to another, for example to convert a .png to a .jpeg. We have reviewed and recommend the following online conversion tools:

  • YouConvertIt Beta (http://www.youconvertit.com/) with this tool you can convert ANYTHING. Video, document, audio, image, you name it, you can convert it.  The only downside is you can’t change resolutions.
  • ZamZar Beta (http://www.zamzar.com/) great tool for more intense users that require options for priority conversions, larger storage size, etc.
  • Media-Convert (http://www.mediaconverter.org/) a bit more complicated than the others but it does allow you to change the resolution your files are rendered at.
  • ISpring Pro (http://www.ispringsolutions.com) the recommended tool for converting PowerPoint (.ppt) to Flash (.swf).
